Choosing a niche adjacent to your existing skills

Rather than starting from a completely blank slate, many creators build a niche just beside a skill or interest they already genuinely have, since existing knowledge shortens the learning curve considerably and gives early content a level of authenticity that is difficult to fake convincingly for very long, a point that becomes clearer with practice.
Think about hobbies, work experience or areas where friends already quietly ask you for advice, since that informal expertise is often exactly the seed a content niche needs, already carrying genuine enthusiasm attached to it from the very start, especially in the early stages of a creator's journey, something worth testing for yourself over time.
Adjacent niches also give you room to grow sideways later, since skills tend to connect naturally to one another, and a creator who starts in one area often finds a credible, comfortable path into a neighbouring one over time, even when it feels like a minor detail at the time.
